Welcome to the Kirsty Maxwell Charity

This charity was set up in memory of Kirsty Maxwell whose life tragically ended in unexplained suspicious circumstances whilst was on holiday in Benidorm, Spain on 29th April 2017. Kirsty’s family have had to (and continue to) campaign and fight for truth, answers and progress regarding the loss of Kirsty. We hope that some good can from the tragic loss of Kirsty with our charity by being able to support other families unfortunate to find themselves in similar terrible circumstances as we are. No family should ever have to experience what we have had to deal with however sadly it will happen again to others and we hope that what we have learned can be used to offer assistance, advice and support for other families having to deal with a death abroad.

  • Abandoned to find our way through a justice system abroad which did not properly investigate Kirsty’s death.
  • Our Governments did not have joined up processes to help us.
  • We had to fundraise to finance legal, translation, travel and our own investigations.
  • Inaccurate non victim focussed media reporting.
  • We were left to develop our own media and social media campaign.
  • We had to do our own media interviews to counteract inaccurate media reporting.
We hope that what we learned by having to develop our own processes, identify and employ our own linguistic, investigatory and legal experts that we can help others unfortunate to find themselves in the same situation as we did. There is many ways you can help assist the Kirsty Maxwell Charity in preventing this happening again through fundraising and sharing our Charity so we can ensure to reach as many people as possible who may be victims of a death abroad.
